Constructing N-sided Toric Surface Patches from Boundary Curves ⋆

چکیده
Constructing N -sided surface patches to fill holes plays an important role in Computer Aided Geometric Design. In this paper, we present a method to construct a single toric surface patch interpolating N -sided boundary curves. The control points of the patch are determined by the given boundary curves and energy optimization. The main advantage of the method is that the toric surface patch can interpolate the boundary curves with different degrees and some examples are given to show the effectiveness and feasibility of the method.

Toric Surface Patches
We define a toric surface patch associated with a convex polygon, which has vertices with integer coordinates. This rational surface patch naturally generalizes classical Bézier surfaces. Several features of toric patches are considered: affine invariance, convex hull property, boundary curves, implicit degree and singular points. The method of subdivision into tensor product surfaces is introd...
متن کاملFilling N-sided Holes Using Combined Subdivision Schemes
A new method is presented for calculating N-sided surface patches. The algorithm generates a subdivision surface which satisses arbitrary C 1 boundary conditions. The proposed subdivision scheme is based on a Catmull-Clark type subdivision scheme that operates in the surface interior. Near the boundary we introduce new subdivision rules that involve the given boundary conditions. The generated ...
متن کاملImplicitizing Bi-Cubic Toric Surfaces by Dixon? - Resultant Quotients
Toric surface patches have two significant geometric properties: they are multi-sided and they are generalizations of both the triangular and rectangular Bezier surface patches. They also have a very nice algebraic property: their implicit equations are closely related to the Dixon determinant. In particular, for bi-cubic toric patches without base points, their implicit equation can always be ...
متن کاملBézier patches on almost toric surfaces
The paper is devoted to the parametrization extension problem: given a loop composed of 3 (resp. 4) rational Bézier curves on a rational surface X, find a triangular (resp. tensor product) Bézier patch on X of optimal degree bounded by these curves. The constructive solution to the formulated problem is presented in details for cases where X is a sphere or a hyperbolic paraboloid. Then X is an ...
متن کاملTransfinite surface interpolation over irregular n-sided domains
Transfinite surface interpolation is a classic topic of computer-aided geometric design (CAGD), and many non-quadrilateral schemes are known. Surfaces defined solely by means of their boundary curves and cross-tangent functions are needed, for example, in three-dimensional curve network-based design, and to fill complex irregular holes such as in vertex blending. This paper deals with interpola...
